Mountain View was built in 1978 as an elder care facility named Winfield Manor, and operated as such for about 15 years. It met the stringent medical-housing and accessibility codes requirement of the day, and meets all current local fire codes and safety requirements for a bed and breakfast of this size. Several of the bathrooms are handicapped equipped and all the doors are 36 inches wide. A ramp is built at one end of the main level leading to the Rec -TV room from the parking lot and the parking lot has a short level walkway leading to the main entrance. The lower level is also accessible from the driveway via a paved walkway.
The home has one kitchen accessible to guests to prepare lunch and evening
meals if they so desire, and a large commercial kitchen is used
by staff to prepare food for special functions and large groups
or events we are catering.
On the lower level a large exercise room with an atrium is accessible by three doors and has a 4 person sunken Jacuzzi, a 4 person infrared sauna with music system, and seven pieces of exercise equipment to workout, should you be so inclined.
The home has fireplaces in both the Living Room and Rec Room for guests to
enjoy. The house is heated by a central steam baseboard heating
system throughout. In summer, air conditioning is not required due
to our 3700 altitude and nights even in the summer may require a
light blanket. A large redwood deck across the front offers a spectacular
view of Whitetop Mountain and the heavily wooded countryside. The
grounds cover almost 5 acres of gently sloping mountain side with
the same view from almost any vantage point. There is plenty of
room for walking, bird watching and often deer and other wildlife
can be seen as they transverse the property. There is sufficient
open areas should you desire to erect a tent, commune with nature
in private, or you can utilize the large gazebo with swing, tables,
chairs and BBQ grill if you would like.
